Halloween Ideas – Safe Trick or Treat Fun For Kids and Pets
Kids – of all ages – just love to dress up for Halloween night! It’s a great time to throw a spooky Halloween party – and there’s much excitement as the kids show off their ghostly Halloween costumes.
And the earlier you start to plan your Halloween party the better – to make sure you avoid last minute hiccups that cause disappointment.
Many parents will want to make sure their kids have fun – but safely, even if that means forbidding them to go trick or treating on their own. But there are plenty of other Halloween Ideas to put a smile back on the childrens’ faces behind their ghoulish masks!
One way is to accompany your children on the evening – and you’ll be surprised just how much fun it can be. By going along with the little ones dressed up as imps and the bigger ones as Ghouls or Draculas – and a bit of a disguidse yorself – you’ll have a great time sharing in the fun!
Or you could throw a Halloween party… That way, you can keep the kids under your supervision while leaving them to have fun together. And they can have fun answering other trick or treaters who come knocking at your door – they can donate sweets or edibles. Another good idea is to have the children help you bake monster cookies to give as a treat.
If your neighbors feel the same as you about children trick or treating alone, it can be cost-effective to get together to throw a Halloween street party – this way, responsibilities can be divided between all those participating. Families can be allotted a particular task such as preparing the food, hanging up decorations or organizing the entertainment, games, music and competitions for the best Halloween costume.
Other Activities for your party to keep the kids happy can include the ever-popular Halloween Pumpkin Painting. What is needed for this are acrylic paints, brushes, paint pens, other art supplies for decorating pumpkins. Always supervise young children and allow for mess.
Give the children their own personalized trick or treat bag and fill it full of their favourite yummies. Candy always goes down well, along with a surprise novelty wrapped up inside.
One great Halloween game is the bone hunt – you’ll need enough small plastic bones for each child (but be careful with young toddlers and small objects). Mark some of the bones as prize bones. Scatter the bones throughout the party area. If the kids start to show signs of boredom announce the Halloween bone hunt and watch their faces light up! You can use anything instead of bones – candies or coins are great too.
Scary movies can go down well – Kids love them. But take care what you show – even though it’s Halloween you don`t want to give the kids nightmares!
Fireworks can liven up the occasion, although you may need to protect your kids, and your pets too, by keeping them at home where they will be safe warm and out of harms way.
And with some Halloween Party Themes , Halloween Party Ideas and Halloween Costumes that are suitable for your age groups, you can ensure your Trick or Treating gives the kids a whole bunch of fun – and makes sure you avoid some of the headaches that Halloween can bring!
So take care – stay safe and have fun!
Top Halloween Ideas – Halloween Party Games
No Halloween is the same without a great kid’s party with some fun Halloween Party Games! So here are some party ideas to make sure your Halloween Party is a real hit!
When planning a party that the kids are really going to enjoy, you should include a mix of active and quieter games, so they have a chance to ‘let off steam’ but you can maintain control by moving them on to something quieter. So it’s worthwhile having a few of both planned and a quiet game and active game have been described below.
Trick or Treat Parcel is a version of the birthday party game, ‘Pass the Parcel’. To play this game you’ll need a parcel with many different layers of wrapping. In each layer there is either a small treat, like a candy or a sticker or there is a trick card which names something that the child has to do. The treat card might say something like, ‘Do a mummy dance,’ or ‘Howl like a werewolf.’ The center of the parcel can be a larger treat or a bag or candy with a note that says to share with those who didn’t get a treat in the game.
To play the game, the children sit in a circle and the parcel is passed as around the circle while music is played. Use Halloween or spooky themed music like ‘Monster Mash’ or ‘Thriller’ by Michael Jackson. When the music stops the child with the parcel unwraps a layer and either takes treat or performs the trick. This continues until the parcel is completely unwrapped.
For a Halloween game that’s a bit more active, you might like to try a game of Spooky Corners. For this game the four corners of the room or four different areas are assigned a Halloween character like Dracula, Mummy, Frankenstein and Werewolf. Label each area with a sign or a picture. You’ll also need four smaller cards labeled with these also.
Then, let the music begin. Again choose music with a spooky theme and something that children can dance to. The children dance as the music is played and when the music stops they run to an area. Someone is chosen to draw a card from the four cards and show it to everyone. All of the children in this area are eliminated and sit to the side while the game continues. This game continues until only one child remains and wins the prize.
Whatever Halloween Party Games you select for your event, try to make sure that they are inclusive of all the kids attending and are suitable for kids of any ability.

Halloween Recipes: Mummy Dogs! Her’s a spooky twist on the classic pigs-in-a-blanket recipe!
You’ll need 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent dinner rolls or 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated flaky dough sheet, 2 to 3 cheese slices, and a pack of hot dogs and some cooking spray, with some Ketchup/mustard to dip in to.
What you need to do:
1. Heat oven to 375.
2. If using crescent rolls: Unroll dough; separate at perforations, creating 4 rectangles. Press perforations to seal. If using dough sheet: Unroll dough; cut into 4 rectangles.
3. With knife or kitchen scissors, cut each rectangle lengthwise into 10 pieces, making a total of 40 pieces of dough. Slice cheese slices into quarters (1/2 slice cheese, cut in half).
4. Wrap 4 pieces of dough around each hot dog and 1/4 slice of cheese to look like “bandages,” stretching dough slightly to completely cover hot dog. About 1/2 inch from one end of each hot dog, separate “bandages” so hot dog shows through for “face.” On a non greased large cookie sheet, place wrapped hot dogs (cheese side down); spray dough lightly with cooking spray.
5. Bake 13 to 17 minutes or until dough is light golden brown and hot dogs are hot. With mustard, draw features on “face.”
High Altitude (3500-6500 ft): Bake 15 to 19 minutes.

10 Ideas For A Halloween Event – Simple Scary Halloween Ideas For Party-goers Of Any Age
Night is falling… The air becomes chilly and you shiver as the moon pierces the darkness of the night. It’s All Soul’s Night, October 31st. It is officially Halloween night and you’re having a hauntingly exciting Halloween celebration. How spookily delightful!
But how to go about planning your Halloween celebration? We list below 10 steps that will help you plan a fantastic Halloween Party that’ll make those ghosts, wicked witches and specters scream with joy.
Step 1: Halloween Party Plan: Think of who the party is for – for you and your children? A grown-up Halloween party won’t be quite the same as a children’s Halloween party with regards to planning the Halloween theme for the event, Halloween decorations, Halloween recipes and beverages. Adults and older children usually want to be frightened, but it’s not quite the same for smaller children. So when planning your event keep the ages of your friends and relatives in mind. Once you’ve got that figured out, it’s time to select the date, time and place of your Halloween party, and the guest list.
Step 2: The invitations: This is when you could have fun and set the tone for an unforgettable night of horror, chills and thrills by sending out unique and spookily inviting Halloween party invitations. You can buy them or make them yourself with decorative paper and glitter pens, or think about buying some inexpensive paper Halloween masks and writing invitations on the back. Include all of the important information such as date, time, place and request an RSVP to your Halloween party.
Step 3: Halloween recipes and party food: Your event would not be a party without lots of great Halloween fare. Plan a menu and create your shopping list. Try to do the maximum ahead of time and try to pick Halloween recipes which can be made early and stored or frozen. And again, think of your guests’ ages – there are lots of fun Halloween foods for both children and grown ups. You could incorporate pumpkin recipes, too!
Step 4: Haunted Halloween Pumpkins: Pumpkin Painting and carving can be great fun and very appealing, if done right. Purchase your pumpkins early to get the best selection. By selecting many different size and shapes of pumpkins, it is possible to paint or carve a number of interesting jack-o-lanterns ghosts. And tiny pumpkins can also make excellent party favors or Halloween decorations. The day before the party, paint or carve your pumpkins and make sure you have enough candles or flashlights to show off their ghoulish faces.
Step 5: Halloween Outfits: There’s always something thrilling about donning a Halloween outfit and changing your identity. So prepare your Halloween costumes ahead of time so there’s no last minute panic to find something suitable. It’s not difficult to find great Halloween Outfit ideas that will not cost much or take a lot of time.
Step 6: Halloween Party Games and Activities: Halloween games and craft fun are particularly popular with younger guests, but adults always enjoy the fun of Halloween games and showing off their ghoulish talents. So, what Halloween activities would your guests be interested in? Gather all the materials you’ll need ahead of time and make sure you have some extra activities in case games take less time than you expect. And don’t forget the prizes! You can easily and inexpensively get some at your neighborhood novelty or dollar store – or order them online.
Step 7: Halloween music and creepy sounds: Think what sort of Halloween music you want at your party – do you want fun party songs or dancing music, or spooky background music – sing-a-longs for the kids. Are you going to have some Halloween special effects and creepy horror sounds as your friends and relatives arrive? Get some CDs of spookyy sounds or have fun making your own!
Step 8: Halloween Party Favors: Party favors add extra fun to any Halloween party with a treat for each guest to take home. They don’t need to be elaborate or costly and could be anything from a small toy to a homemade pack of goodies decorated in Halloween style.
Step 9: Halloween Decorations: decorating your yard and house for Halloween can be great fun and doesn’t have to be expensive. You can get some great spooky effects with simple lights appropriately placed to show off your outdoor and indoor Halloween decorations.
Step 10: When Your Guests Arrive: Halloween party night is here and your guests are about to arrive! Check to see if everything is ready and it all makes a safe setting. Make sure your guests can see any steps or other obstacles and that they can get back home safely after the fun is over.
So Have Fun and Keep It Simple! Keep in mind that your Halloween party ideas don’t have to be elaborate – the key part of a great Halloween party just having some fun, with some quick and easy Halloween decorations and games, some ghostly music and sounds, and some simple Halloween recipes – and you’ll have a fantastic Halloween Party! So have some fun – and a ghoulishly wonderful time!
Safer Halloween Arrangements – It’s at the Weekend This Year!
Halloween activities should be a little bit scary, depending upon the age of your kids, but your kids really should be safe and secure.
Taking small children out in the dark and cold, just to ask for treats from unknown people might not be the greatest idea. Young kids will need supervision to keep them safe – and all that sugar isn’t great for them anyway, and especially in large quantities.
The most frightening things out there are real weirdos, predators, inebriated and careless drivers, catching colds and ‘flu – as well as the nippy weather and possibly rain!
So, rather than dragging your little ones all around the neighborhood at night, why don’t you have their friends come over for a Halloween Event? It can be a lot safer, and you can at least check what the youngsters are getting up to.
Ghoulish drinks can be made with food coloring together with cupcakes iced with black icing, decorated with the children’s names written on an icing gravestone – or mummies made of sausages wrapped in pastry. Feed them something good (albeit disguised). At least you’ll know they’re eating!
Decorate the party room appropriately, and if you want to have some enormously scary fun, host a Halloween Mystery Party!
Halloween will soon be here and people will begin scrambling for Halloween Ideas the closer it gets.
NOW is the time to go around the thrift stores to get outfits and clothing that could be adapted into great fancy dress outfits!
My local pre-owned shop sells prom and evening dresses for $10 to $20. So what if they are a little tattered? They can make terrific Halloween outfits. With a little effort and some fake blood or fabric dye, you can produce some impressive outfits.
Look for wigs too, these can also be dyed so they’ll look pretty scary! Both boys and girls can wear them, even it it’s hopefully just once a year!
Remember, the closer we get to Halloween, the less choice there’ll be.
